2nd Annual Talent Show 2010

Image May 11th was Pinnacle Academy’s 2010 2nd Annual Talent Show. It was in the auditorium, and started at 4:00 pm. Every class got to show their talent on stage, including class plays, songs, and shows. There were also individual acts like Emre Demiroz, who recited 100 digits of Pi, And Nurbanu Simsek from 7th grade who solved the Rubik's Cube in about 3 minutes. Everyone had fun and it was the best talent show ever! The talent show gave every single student a chance to show their talents on stage. There was a lot of people, and it was a huge hit.

International Children's Festival

Image On Saturday April 24th, Pinnacle Academy had an international children’s festival. Children and parents came to watch, and show us cultural dances. Kids from kindergarten thru 7th grade performed. There was face painting, moon bounce, popcorn, cotton candy, and a bake sale. There was Pinnacle Academy’s Folk dance group Arvin, and Pinnacle Kolbasti attended in the dance show. The second graders performed a play called “The 12 Angry Sheep.”  There was African dance, Indian dance and more. It was a very fun time for kids!!

The 2nd Turkish Language Olympiad Washington, D.C.

Image The 2nd Turkish Language Olympiad Washington, D.C., took place on Sunday with the participation of many American students who put their Turkish skills to the test in the various categories of the event.

7th Grade student Selin Altintas was awarded first place and student 7th Grade Nurbanu Simsek was awarded third place by the jury in the Turkish as a native language poetry competition and a team called Pinnacle Kolbasti was awarded second place in the same category's folklore competition. The team performed a folkdance from Turkey's Black Sea region.

Pinnacle`s Spring Camp

Students from Pinnacle Academy spent their spring break learning and having fun.14 students from grades 5.6 and 7 participated in this year`s spring camp. They camped 5 nights in one of VA`s many vacation homes in Massanutten. The kids were supervised by Mr.Gunes and Mr.Bozkurt.

 The camp program included study time, reading time, and activity time. Activities included Go-carting, basketball, mini golf, soccer, football, and much, much, more. After returning from outdoor activities indoor activities took place. Indoor activities included ping-pong, indoor soccer and more! At the end of camp students left happily, experiencing both fun and education, they are waiting for next year’s spring camp with excitement.

Black History Month Performance

The second graders performed their Black History month program on March 11, 2010 for Pinnacle Academy students and staff.  The second graders have been preparing for this program since January, but because of the weather in February, the show was postponed until March. The students performed various poems, songs and speeches, to honor African Americans.
