 On November 11th Pinnacle Academy students enjoyed the company of a guest speaker, Michael Clark during a luncheon.  Mr. Clark is a retired veteran who served for 23 years in 8 different wars, currently working for Veteran Corps of America in Fairfax, VA helping disabled veterans.

Mr. Kevin Sieff’s Visit Print E-mail

Washington Post reporter, Mr. Kevin Sieff, visited Pinnacle Academy on Friday, May 6, to speak with our upper grade students.  A graduate of Brown University and Johns Hopkins, he has been with the Post since September 2010.  Mr. Sieff shared great insight on his career as a reporter, as well as, the subject of journalism and how journalism and the methods of reporting and reading the news have changed over the years.

The students enjoyed their time with him and we thank him for visiting us!

Meteorologist Visit Print E-mail

Pinnacle Academy had the exciting  opportunity to invite Mr. Brian van de Graff, meteorologist of ABC 7 News, to visit our school and students.  He offered insight on weather patterns, his job with a TV station, how he predicts the weather, and his education/career path that led to his very important position.  Our students had a fun time with him, and we thank Mr. Brian van de Graff for taking the time to visit us!

Mr. Paul Reagan’s Visit Print E-mail

Mr. Paul Reagan, Chief of Staff to Senator Jim Webb, visited Pinnacle Academy on February 28, to speak with our seventh and eighth grade students.  Mr. Reagan joined our two grades for lunch and a speech that touched upon subjects such as his education and background in politics, his work with Senator Webb and the issues on the Senator’s agenda, a brief overview of our government and how the different components work together, as well as, some advice for our middle school students on how they could potentially begin a career in politics and within our government.

Senator Chap Petersen’s Visit Print E-mail

Senator Chap Petersen was kind enough to visit our school and speak to our students as a guest speaker on November 15.

He spoke to our students about a variety of topics both personal and political.  The students were quite fascinated with his personal political journey and how he entered politics.  Senator Petersen also talked quite extensively about what our Senate is like today, as well as, the history of Virginia’s political houses.
