Preschool or Early Childhood Education

If you want to start training your kid for his educational career, then sending him to Preschool is the best option. This educational level provides a good learning environment for your children.

Most parents prefer their kids to go to Preschool before starting their elementary years because it helps in building the foundation needed for the learner to survive and excel in the succeeding educational levels.

Moreover, most parents are busy working and their kids are just left with their nannies. This situation provides an unproductive time for your children. Instead of just leaving them with their nannies, why not send them to preschool so that they’ll start developing themselves.

Preschool Meaning

Preschool is a fun and holistic academic environment where Early Childhood Education is taught. Children must feel safe and comfortable in Preschool as it becomes their second home away from their usual comfort zone.

In order to build comfort and interest, the learning materials and physical surroundings must be creative and enjoyable. This is also the place where kids starts to build self-confidence and the ability to socialize with others.

Some of our current professionals in the society did not have preschool but still were able to be functional and sociable. However, with our younger generations today, preschool becomes a more inevitable part in building good social skills, behavior, and learning competencies.

Preschool Education

The main goal of Preschool Education is the holistic development of a child. It means the curriculum is fairly intensive but it employs some traits of a daycare which makes it more fun and dynamic.

There are different approaches in teaching preschool education as learners have various levels of intelligence. Preschool teachers understand that students at this level learns best through social interaction and exploration with interesting and creative materials.

The student’s learning are more symbolic than concrete, thus, we need to make their imagination flow freely with some guidance for correction. Consequently, preschool teachers apply various strategies to capture and retain the focus of their learners.

Preschool Class Duration:

Unlike in elementary, preschool classes only lasts for half a day because their learners have shorter attention span and easily gets exhausted as they frequently move around. The Preschool can either have the class held in the morning or in the afternoon.

Preschool Teachers:

Unlike in Daycare, preschool teachers are licensed or Registered Early Childhood Educators which teaches Early Childhood Education for their preschool students.

This ensures your children are in good hands for the development of their cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and social skills.

Types of Preschools:

There are various types of preschools for parents to choose from. Some types of preschools are Montessori, religion-affiliated, cooperative or non-profit, private and local community preschools. Each type has its respective trait distinguishable from the other types.

Preschool Age

Aside from choosing which preschool is best for your kids, the right age of sending them off for preschool is the typical questions among parents. In general, the usual age of learners for preschool is between 3 to 5 years old. However, even as young as two years, you can already send your child for preschool if you see them prepared already.

Preschool Cost

The tuition fee for sending your children to preschool varies on the type and quality of school. For those with excellent and modern facilities, you would expect a higher price compared to those with not so fancy learning materials.

However, there are other factors influencing the cost for preschool education such as the location, teachers, curriculum, and credibility of the school.

According to the National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies (NACCRRA), the average tuition fee for preschool range between $4,460 to $13,158 annually. Likewise, other preschools offer a tuition fee around $9,589 per year.

Head start Preschool

Preschool provides a flexible academic structure for the young ones and it precedes kindergarten which is more rigid and mandatory. Preschool serves as an excellent head start in training your kid from being independent and self-confident.

Several studies have been conducted on the progress of a child who went to preschool. Majority of the results showed that those who went to preschool have good social skills, behavior, and learning abilities when they went to college.

Most parents have age as their indicator if their kid is ready for preschool. However, there are some factors you need to check in order to gauge how prepared is your child for preschool.

  • Potty Training: It is also best if your child has been potty trained before sending them off for preschool. Likewise, they must exhibited some knowledge about good grooming like combing their hair, zipping pants, and hand washing.
  • Following Instructions: Preschool provides a safe, friendly, and flexible learning environment for children. Despite that, in order to maintain peace and order, it is also best if your child can easily follow the simple instructions from teachers.
  • Speaking and Listening Skills: These students are very young, so you cannot expect them to speak fluently. However, learners at this level must still be able to express clearly, in bits and pieces, their thoughts and expression.

Moreover, they must be able to understand simple words heard from their teacher or classmates. All these things will ensure proper flow of communication between the teacher and students.

  • Shifting Activities: In preschool, there are various activities to be done in a certain schedule such as from play time to reading sessions. It is also great if your child has experienced shifting activities smoothly in your home. This is essential to ensure your child will not have a hard time coping with the shifting activities in preschool.

Sending your children off to preschool must not be treated as an expense, rather an investment of their future. It helps kids develop basic foundation for a more complicated level in their educational career.

At home, the people whom the child interacts with are his parents and siblings. In Preschool, the child gets to meet various folks with different personalities. These differences will further enhance the identity and understanding of the child for the presence of other people. Likewise, it will test the patience and adaptability of your children in the society.

Aside from that, basic foundation of language, comprehension, and arithmetic is taught in this level. Gradually, the child learns all these basic concepts in a fun manner. Eventually, this will help the child develop faster means of learning later in the higher levels.
